About
Hi there! I'm Terry, and I'm thrilled and grateful to have the opportunity to share my art with you!
My husband and I and our two dogs live in a log house on the beautiful northern Arizona grasslands, and my art studio is truly is my happy place.
Since childhood, I've always been creating some form of art: drawing, painting, photography, mixed media. Later in his life, my Dad took up oil painting as a self-taught artist. My earliest memories of Dad are of him sitting at the kitchen table with his oil paints and brushes, working on his latest painting with the morning light coming through the window over his shoulder. The scents of linseed oil and coffee are wonderfully imprinted in my brain! Creating art is in my genes. Dad's paint brushes grace a special spot in my studio at my work table, and I know he's smiling down on me while I'm creating my own pieces.
I retired in 2017 after enjoying a 30-year career with the National Park Service, which shaped a strong conservation ethic that remains ingrained in me. I am grateful that I now get to combine that ethic with art to create pieces that incorporate the three Rs: reduce, reuse, and recycle. I rescue cast-off pieces from yard sales and thrift stores and give them a vibrant and colorful second life with handpainted mandalas incorporating unique designs - I never use patterns or templates, so no two pieces are ever alike. What was once perhaps destined for the landfill is transformed into one-of-a-kind art pieces.
In my free time away from the studio, I love to visit our National Parks, kayak, hike, and explore this amazing state of ours - indeed there is incredible beauty around every corner!
From the bottom of my humble heart, thank you for your support of independent artists!
