Teal Violin

Recently, I was fortunate to be able to purchase a group of 29 old violins, and have been thoroughly reveling in turning them into art pieces! These violins were collected by their former owner with the intention of restoration, so by the time they came to me they were in all manner of disrepair and ready for transformation. I began this particular violin with a base layer of gorgeous teal, then played off that color with various shades of aqua and turquoise. The piece was finished with a layer of thick, glossy glaze. Because of the vintage nature of the instrument, some nicks, dings, and scars may be present in the wood, all part of its history.
Why are there no strings, pegs, chinrest, or tailpiece? Because those elements were part of the violin’s former life; it now begins its encore performance as a colorful reminder of the beauty of music.

Arizona Sunset

AWARD WINNER! This piece was awarded a first-place blue ribbon at the 2022 Yavapai County Fair in Prescott, AZ! Doesn't it make you think of the most vivid sunset? This vibrant scarlet red polymer plate with its sweet embossed edge was absolutely made for these energetic orange and tangerine hues! It really makes the colors pop! Slight Asymmetry

You know the phrase, "Measure twice, cut once"? I'm usually pretty precise when it comes to finding the center of a piece for placement of the first dot. This time, however, I apparently didn't "measure twice" before I "dotted once" - I ended up with more space on the bottom than on the top, and had to get creative with the next-to-last ring of dots! Regardless, the blues, turquoises, and greens are reminiscent of pretty lake waters, don't you think? Freehand painted at Dragonfly Soul Studio's home workshop.

Galaxy Violin

This violin is titled Galaxy because of the similarity to the colors of celestial nebulae. The base color of this piece is a brilliant blue, followed by designs painted in shades of fuchsia and purple, highlighted by inky black. It’s finished with a layer of thick, glossy glaze.
